Down a few pounds…Up 20 More…UGH!

I have suddenly found myself lacking both will power and motivation. Somehow both seem to work against me when it comes to getting into shape. It’s the story of so many of us, especially when we are well into our 40’s and 50’s.

As for me, I find that I can lose a few pounds quite quickly and easily. Unfortunately gaining it (and even more) back happens even quicker. So what’s a girl to do?

Well, as far as I can tell, of the friends I have who have found themselves with some expendable cash, those who have invested in personal trainers seem to succeed in whatever fitness goal they have set for themselves.

Now, I’m fully aware that one can lose weight on his/her own. Many people have. In fact, I myself have lost over 40 pounds all on my own, by simply following a healthier diet and exercise plan. However, I have noticed quite a stall in my weight loss and there is so much more that I have to lose.

This is where I think a personal trainer would come in. I think my body has gotten so used to the same ol’e same ol’e. So losing weight and changing my body shape is now even harder. I need someone to show me the ropes and teach me new exercises that will work out all the essential muscle groups. It wouldn’t help if he/she was knowledgeable in health meal preparation as well.

I know there are proper stretching techniques, I’m just not sure how to do them. I know that one can train their bodies to perform better, but how? I think calling on an expert is the key to achieving my goals. I would love to be able to glean the knowledge of an expert on how to properly use gym machinery or better still, how to handle free weights (which can be so intimidating for me).

I do have a goal in mind and I do know that it is not un-reasonable. I’ve been so close before. I do not have an un-realistic picture in my head of what I want to look like. But I can’t help but feel a pang of envy when I see an incredibly fit person walk by.

I don’t need to look like the incredibly fit woman above. However, I sure would like to come close. Perhaps I win the lottery. Then I may be able to employ a personal trainer and challenge him with getting me as fit as I can possibly dream. But for now, I lace up my sneakers and prepare myself for my usual, boring, daily stroll at the park.

Food for Thought
